Is RVing in nature making you a better person?
One advantage of the RV lifestyle is contact with nature. Compared with our brethren who dwell in stick-built mansions and commute back and forth to work in the city, we have a lot more time viewing, listening to, and breathing in the air of natural surroundings. Now comes a scientific study that says all that [...]
New gearbox at 22000 miles
Hi Tyson and a warm welcome to MotorhomeFacts. Our previous MH was a 2001 Peugeot 1.9 td. In 2 yr 9mth we did 24,000miles. The only thing to pack up was the speedy. The nylon drive pinion inside the gearbox had melted because water had turned the oil to a thick emulsion!
This vehicle was serviced every 6 months so it came as a surprise. I do recall a period of extremely wet weather, however, prior to this problem coming to the surface. Interestingly, when I mentioned the speedy issue on this site, around 7 other members said they’d had the same! When the Boxer was introduced in 1994, water was a major problem in two ways (at least), firstly, the run-off went straight on to the battery, so the channeling had to be redirected. Secondly, the water could run straight on top of the gearbox which it entered via a breather, I believe. I thought that, by 2001, these issues had been sorted.
If you want more info from this site, it would be worth subscribing to the tune of 10. You’d get your monies worth.
Good luck.
roof waxing
As hinted above use lateral thinking? Why not use something on a pole? I bought a cheap floor mop with cotton head from the “pound shops” and a spare head one to put on polish and one to polish up. If you then get above the sides with the ladders/scaffolding suggestions elsewhere you are pushing down to polish it is easier! If you look around some of the mop heads come with plastic connectors and won’t scratch….
Should health issues keep you off the road?
n our travels and contacts, we meet folks who practically sit on the edge of their chairs as we talk about RV experiences. Sometimes they sigh, because they feel that health problems prevent them from partaking of the lifestyle. Think of the pills, the doctor visits, the therapies. On the other hand, think of sitting at home, dreading the coming of winter, knowing that the dark skies and cold days will chill your bones. Like it or not, the older we get, the more most of us struggle with health issues. Does that mean the RV lifestyle is out of reach?
